To check or test the accuracy or exactness of conform the truth or truthfulness of by comparison with know data or a recognized standard or authority
VERIFICATION
The act or process of verifying or the state of being verified.
在辞海中没有验证一词
“验”和“证”
“验”：在《史记.晋世家》中，“何以为验？”即为证据或凭证；在《吕氏春秋.知度》中讲“责其实，以验其辞”，即为证实或检验。
“证”：在《楚辞.九章.惜涌》中，讲“故相臣莫若君兮，所以政之不远”，即为证验和证实。
现代汉语字典中：验证的解释即为证验
