某年度我国电信行业市场分析内容简介:
1. SYNOPSIS
In late September I travelled to China to experience, first-hand, some of the exciting newdevelopments in this, the largest country in the world. The country is rapidly changingfrom a telecoms market to a powerful telecoms player and this will affect the total globaltelecoms industry. The country already has the greatest number of mobile users; it is thesecond-largest Internet country and has the number two largest telcos in the world – acountry of opportunities, but also one where big losses can occur. A free travel report isavailable describing overall impressions, observations and trends and economic andsocial trends and developments (see below).
2. STRUCTURAL CHANGES NEEDED FOR WESTERN ICT COMPETITORS
2.1 ARE YOU READY FOR THE NEXT BILLION CUSTOMERS?It is no longer business as usual for the mainly western ICT industry that delivered itstechnologies to the first billion technology customers over the last 25 years – that is, if itwants to remain competitive with its Chinese rivals.Led by China, India and Brazil, some one billion new (middle-class) customers will beadded to the industry by 2015. However, this requires vastly different business models. Inthis and other emerging economies different values and social structure require a differentapproach.
2.2 FROM PERSONAL COMPUTER TO SHARING PRODUCTS AND SERVICES
The personal computer is, in most of these countries, shared by many – more often bywhole villages.
This is creating a number of problems in respect of software licensing and the concept ofintellectual property. The latest movies are freely and openly available in proper shopsfor around $1 each. Some western companies are finding new ways to overcome thesechallenges – Microsoft, for example, is still working out how to proceed (while in ChinaMicrosoft announced its cut-down Windows software version for the Indian market – soprogress is clearly underway). While official protection might exist, implementing andpolicing such a policy is nearly impossible; within a totally different culture that is basedon the premise of sharing.
