A Comparative Analysis on the Regional Corporate Network of Interlocking
Directorship in Shanghai and Guangdong
Abstract
Structural aspects of corporate networks have been rarely explored in China. This
article aims to help fill this gap by focusing on interlocking directorates, a key
structural aspect of corporate networks. Specifically, from a social embeddedness
perspective, we describe the regional corporate network pattern of interlocking
directorates in Shanghai and Guangdong, and analyze the relationships between the
networks of directorship interlocks, firm behavior, and regional economic growth. We
