New industrial frontiers are opening up outside of the
three major Chinese cities of Shanghai, Beijing and
Guangzhou. Established second tier cities that continue
to offer an attractive location for multinational industrial
companies include Chengdu, Suzhou, Dalian, and Tianjin. These
continue to be attractive locations for multinational companies.
For those companies wishing to get ahead of the crowd, we
recommend serious consideration be given to a wider range of
emerging cities which include Chongqing, Harbin and Wuhan.
In this paper, we examined 25 major second tier cities in China and
ranked their suitability for various types of industrial operations.
