Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) grew 22 per cent in real
terms in the first 11 months of 2004. Actual FDI stood at
US$57.553 billion. China approved a total of 39,291 new
overseas-invested companies, up 7.31 per cent in the same
period last year. FDI for the month of November stood at
US$3.75 billion, up 7 per cent on a year earlier.
􀂾 According to Ministry of Commerce and general
administration of customs, China's total value of imports and
exports reached US$1,038.38 billion, up 36.5 per cent for 11
months ending November, 2004 from the same period last
year. This is the first time that foreign trade volume has
surpassed US$1,000 billion.
􀂾 China's Industrial output growth eased to 14.8 per cent in November, its slowest pace in 18 months as government
measures to curb the economy show signs of taking effect. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS),
production slowed from 15.7 per cent in October and 17.9 per cent for the same month last year. Output for the first
