Turning to Asia Pacific, this chart shows the cultural gaps and similarities in that part of the world. I’ll pause again to let you examine this slide. [PAUSE FOR 30 SECONDS.]
The size of the gaps in Asia Pacific, however, were larger than those we found in other regions. Additional gaps, for instance, concerned HP’s emphasis on making internal improvements and maximizing cost efficiencies while Compaq focused more on pursuing customers and markets and emphasizing service.
Concerning similarities in Asia Pacific, again, both HP people and Compaq folks could be described as cooperating to help one another to ensure each other’s success than competing with one another internally to advance one’s own career.
